On the very day that President Trump flew from Palm Beach to a Manhattan for his bogus criminal arraignment, NASA and the Canadian Space Agency announced the selection of the astronauts scheduled to fly on Artemis 2. Project Artemis, President Trump’s bold plan to colonize and industrialize the Moon and then proceed to Mars is proceeding based on the national mission conceived in Donald Trump’s first term in the White House. The crew of Artemis 2 will include Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Hammock Koch, and Canadian Astronaut and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen. The Artemis 2 Crew is scheduled to fly sometime in November of 2024 on a 10- day flight test on an Orion Spacecraft aboard an SLS Rocket.
Artemis 2 will test the Orion spacecraft's life support systems, and other systems required for humans to live and work in deep space. The mission will build on the uncrewed Artemis 1 mission which completed its 25.5 day test flight after splashing down in the Pacific Ocean on December 11, 2022, after flying by the Moon twice. It came within 80 miles of the lunar surface and traveled a record breaking 268,563 miles at its furthest distance. The Artemis 1 test flight provided some valuable data in preparation for future crewed Artemis missions, including the Artemis 3 mission scheduled to land American astronauts on the Moon by 2025. This will set the stage for long term exploration and utilization of the lunar surface, followed by human missions to Mars and other destinations.
In November 2024, when NASA readies the astronauts of Crew II, to fly on the first crewed mission around the Moon in more than 50 years, in a test mission in preparation for a 2025 Moon landing of Crew III, let us make sure President Donald J. Trump is back in the White House building on this great adventure in the new frontier he has envisioned and mandated.
